vegetarianism.

In my nutrition class we were learning about different types vegetarians. Some were pretty frightening to the body. Makes me question how dangerous ad extreme people’s diets can get. 

Flexitarian/Semi-vegetarian/Occasional vegetarian

  • Eats mostly vegetarian but includes meat.

Pescatarian

  • Abstains from meat and animal products with the exception of fish. 

Lacto-Ovo

  • Abstains from meat but consumes eggs and dairy.

Vegan

  • Consumes no animal products or processed products with animal-derived ingredients or made using animal products. 

Raw vegan/Raw food diet

  • Consumes unprocessed vegan foods that have not been heated above 115F.

Macrobiotic

  • Consumes unprocessed whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
  • May be extremely strict (brown rice and water or tea).

Fruitarian 

  • Consumes only fruits, nuts, and seeds.
