In my nutrition class we were learning about different types vegetarians. Some were pretty frightening to the body. Makes me question how dangerous ad extreme people’s diets can get.
Flexitarian/Semi-vegetarian/Occasional vegetarian
- Eats mostly vegetarian but includes meat.
Pescatarian
- Abstains from meat and animal products with the exception of fish.
Lacto-Ovo
- Abstains from meat but consumes eggs and dairy.
Vegan
- Consumes no animal products or processed products with animal-derived ingredients or made using animal products.
Raw vegan/Raw food diet
- Consumes unprocessed vegan foods that have not been heated above 115F.
Macrobiotic
- Consumes unprocessed whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
- May be extremely strict (brown rice and water or tea).
Fruitarian
- Consumes only fruits, nuts, and seeds.
